Bondi Announces Investigation into President's Opponents and Epstein Links
This past Friday, Pam Bondi assigned interim US attorney Jay Clayton to lead an inquiry into opponents of the President and their relationships with the late financier. This decision came just after Trump ordered her to launch the probe.
In a statement, the Attorney General commended Jay Clayton as “one of the most capable and trusted prosecutors in the country”. The official added, “The department will handle this matter promptly and thoroughly to provide clarity for citizens.”
This action seems to diverge from a July memo from justice department officials which stated that the Epstein files did not warrant additional investigations. As per the memo, authorities “found no proof justifying probes into uncharged individuals”

On Friday, Trump declared he would ask the DOJ to examine connections between Epstein and Democratic figures, specifically naming Bill Clinton, Larry Summers and Reid Hoffman. Interestingly, Trump also referred to the “Epstein situation” as a “scam”.
