Disturbing Footage Reveals Moment Police Suffer Blade Attacks in Surprise Attack
One ranking policeman that leaped to the assistance of a colleague that got attacked by a blade-wielder received the Royal Recognition for Valor.
Sergeant Tim Ansell fought with twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown after he held a blade to the neck of his fellow officer Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown launched his attack as the policemen and their partner, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist following a traffic accident in that location in summer 2023.
Brown stabbed and slashed the two Sgt Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft stopped him with a stun gun.
"Policeman attacked," the officer stated over his radio.
Bodyworn and vehicle camera footage released by the force depicted Brown, that was clothed in black with a head covered, rush to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a knife pointed forward.
He collided with the officer who lost balance and dropped to the pavement, after which Sgt Ansell stepped in and tried to wrestle him to the floor despite being multiple times hit with the blade.
PC Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and sought a open target, bringing the confrontation to an conclusion.
Sgt Ansell was heard stating: "I need something on my neck now, I've been stabbed in the throat."
Sgt Ansell sustained two deep cuts to his throat and additional wounds to his limbs and body, whereas Sgt Foster experienced cut injuries.
Officials stated Sergeant Foster utilized his palms to control his partner's blood loss before medical personnel reached the scene.
The new honor comes subsequent to the trio of policemen were granted departmental Courage Honors in October 2023 and the police federation award from the local Police Federation in spring 2024.
They were also awarded a North West Valor Recognition in summer 2024.
"The efforts of the entire team eventually protected one another and meant no civilians endured any injuries."
Brown was given to an psychiatric detention in early 2024, per authorities.
