NFL Roundup: Broncos Edge Hapless Jets in Defensive Affair
During a defensive struggle this weekend, the Broncos clinched a 13-11 win over the struggling New York Jets. Signal-caller Bo Nix threw an early touchdown pass and specialist Wil Lutz provided the late go-ahead field goal to secure the ugly win.
Defensive Display Seals Game
Even with registering nine sacks versus Jets quarterback Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 following conceding a safety in the second half. Remarkably, the Jets managed a mere 82 total net yards throughout the entire game.
The Denver quarterback, who completed 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, led a critical 12-play, 65-yard drive that culminated in Lutz's 27-yard field goal with approximately five minutes remaining.
Historic Struggles for Jets Attack
Despite their horrendous offensive display, the Jets still had possession with a chance to drive for a possible victory. However Fields was tackled on fourth down from the Denver 44 after coach Aaron Glenn opted to attempt the conversion instead of calling on kicker Nick Folk for a long kick.
The Jets quarterback struggled all game, completing just 9 of 17 attempts for 45 yards. New York finished with negative ten passing yards, the lowest in any contest since 1998.
"Our passing game was non-existent," Glenn stated following the game.
