Tuchel Criticizes Wembley Crowd Support Following Emphatic Win Over Wales.

Thomas Tuchel voiced his disappointment that the England team did not get stronger encouragement from the Wembley fans during their impressive friendly win against Wales on Thursday night.

Tuchel was happy to see his side maintain their strong performance, with goals from Morgan Rogers, Watkins, and Saka inside the initial stages settling the contest. But, he was displeased with the atmosphere at the iconic venue.

“With one and a half training days to get ready against a organized team and we performed excellently,” the coach remarked. “It could have been five goals ahead at the break. We couldn’t score the additional goals. It was quiet. We didn’t get any energy back from the stands. Our team gave their all to win.”

“How much more can you provide in the first quarter? We didn’t let them get away. When you only hear just the Welsh supporters for 30 minutes, it’s sad because the team earned greater backing today.”

“I stand by this statement. We cannot do more than leading three goals up in a derby. I would have wished for a bit more backing in phases where it gets difficult.”

“After halftime, to cheer us on, there was a bit too much backing for the opposition. It might have aided us to refocus, but it is what it is and that is it.”

Squad Decisions Vindicated by Performance

Apart from risking a fight with fans, the manager also created controversy by excluding Bellingham and Phil Foden from his squad. Yet the move was backed up by Morgan Rogers excelling in the No 10 position and netting his first international goal.

“He is what he is,” the head coach explained. “He is a No 10 and he is competing for his place.”

Bellamy Hopes for Lessons from Loss

The Wales manager expressed hope that Wales, who face Belgium in a key World Cup qualifier on Monday, take lessons from their disappointing first-half display.

“That’s the reason I wanted this friendly,” Bellamy commented. “I need to see our standing. What are our ambitions? Who do we want to be? This performance fills me with drive.”

Injury Concern for Watkins

Watkins was substituted at half-time after colliding with a post and will be a doubt when the national team play Latvia in the Latvian capital in a World Cup qualifying match on Tuesday.
